Yoga Nidra is a systematic method that causes complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. This term comes from two Sanskrit words, yoga, which means unity or focused awareness, and nidra, meaning sleep. During the practice the person shows that he is asleep, but his consciousness is working on a deeper level of awareness. For this reason, yoga nidra is often called introspective sleep or deep relaxation with inner awareness. In this marginal state between sleep and alertness, spontaneous contact with the subconscious and the unconscious mind dimension spontaneously occurs.
